The littlest wildlife warrior

Thanks everyone who’s dropped me a line in the last week.  Andy’s and my first little warrior, Sol Ridley entered the world last Sunday so we’re in a hazy planet of nappies and night feeds.  All of us are doing well and Andy and I are over the moon.  I’m not checking email as regularly so apologies if you don’t get a response straight away.  Sol (Solomon – it means sun in Latin, not to mention the relation to King Solomon and his famous mines of Africa) has already rocked our world.  He’s fabulous – and already has a complete collection of elephant cuddly toys.  Andy keeps asking me ‘Why are we getting so many elephants?’

Last chance…

I’m always amazed at how many Africa addicts there are in Australia – if you’re receiving this you’re probably one of them…  You’re sitting at your desk, supposed to be working, but you’re thinking about cheetahs chasing springboks on the savannah rather than spreadsheets…  What is it about Africa that gets under your skin?  It’s incredibly hard to define, but it’s got to have something to do with those big critters that threaten to stomp, chase or eat you…

I’m about to disappear into the world of night feeds (the ones that involve a crying baby, not lions I’m afraid!) for a little while, so this is a last reminder that on Monday 9th (next week – 4 days away) we’ll be drawing the African safari competition.  Well under 300 tickets have been sold, so the odds of winning remain incredibly good for a prize of this size.  It’s a week in Namibia with Wilderness Safaris, thanks to Epic Private Journeys, and believe me, holidays in Africa don’t get much better than this….  If you don’t have a ticket in the competition yet, or haven’t told your Africa loving mates, please do so now online at www.animalworks.com.au

Meet the orphans

Get ready to be killed by cuteness….  Meet the elephant orphans at http://animalworks.com.au/meet-the-orphans .

We’ve added a new page to the Animal Works website where you can meet some of the orphaned baby elephants being reared at the Wildlife Trust of India’s Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation in Assam.  Their stories are heart wrenching and they’re unbelievably gorgeous, but it’s not all bad news – there is hope because they’ve been saved by the wonderful vets and staff at the centre and there’s lots we can do to help.  If you’ve bought a ticket in the safari competition, a calendar or an artwork, you’re helping pay for food for these little guys.  If you haven’t, it’s not too late!

Animal Works website down temporarily

Update – African safari competition

Less than 200 tickets have sold in our African safari competition…

You work it out – the odds of winning this amazing holiday for two in Namibia are really really good, with only a couple of weeks til the draw on 9th November.  Apart from the fact that you have a great chance of winning this African adventure with Wilderness Safaris and Epic Private Journeys, it’s for a really good cause!  And there are lots of runner up prizes, including a telescope from MI Vision, a crystal heron from Swarovski and African books from Pan Macmillan…

Also, check out the Animal Works website where Nafisa Naomi’s baby orphan elephant calenders are on sale for $20 each.  They are the perfect Christmas gift for anyone who loves animals and all proceeds go to elephant conservation.
